Hydrologic systems in Alaska exhibit many unique characteristics when compared to other streams in North America. For example, nearly 50% of the freshwater discharging into the Gulf of Alaska is contributed by glaciers and icefields. Lacking the stability inherent in older fluvial systems, glacier stream systems and landscape features often evolve at rapid rates due to ice thinning and glacier retreat or advance. At Alaska Hydroscience we have wide ranging experience with analysis and characterization of Alaska watersheds as well as regional hydroclimatology, aquatic chemistry, landscape, and watershed characteristics.
